The magnetopause is an interface mediating the solar wind input into the magnetosphere. This region is frequently scanned by the different spacecraft that regularly observe quasiperiodic oscillations of the plasma parameters in the vicinity of the magnetopause. In the present contribution, we analyze observations of the fluctuations of the magnetic field magnitude inside the magnetosheath and in a close vicinity of the magnetopause registered simultaneously by the Cluster and Themis spacecraft in opposite magnetosheath flanks and compare them with the same observations in the solar wind and in the foreshock region monitored by Wind and Geotail. The motivation behind this study is to identify possible sources of large amplitude oscillations observed near the magnetopause. To our analysis, we use different separations between the magnetosheath spacecraft and correlation and wavelet techniques. The discussed sources range from solar wind and/or foreshock fluctuations through pulsed reconnection at the magnetopause to resonances of the magnetospheric cavity. We have found that the long-period solar wind variations penetrate to the magnetopause vicinity but the high-frequency foreshock fluctuations do not. Since the amplitude of the magnetic field fluctuations rapidly increases toward the magnetopause, the magnetopause processes are suggested as the most probable source.
