A magnetostatic model based on the axisymmetric solution for a linear force-free field is proposed which explains the existence of certain small-scale (not greater than 10 to the 7th cm) solar magnetic elements. These elements are characterized by a magnetic field strength not greater than about 1 Tl, the quantization of H, a sharp concentration of the field toward the axis, a multipolar H profile, and a high vertical gradient of H (about -1 mTl/km).
