A comparison of calculations and measurements of the 2972 and 6300/64 A lines is spectra of comet Bradfield shows that the yield of singlet states of atomic oxygen during the dissociation of H2O in the 1216 A line and the neighboring spectral region is about 10 percent. For the dissociation of H2O the velocities of O(1S) and O(1D) are equal to 1.9 and 2.06 km/s; for the dissociation of CO2 they are equal to 4.7 and 2.9 km/s. The superposition of NH2 bands and the irregular character of comet west complicate the evaluation of this comet's gas release on the basis of 6300/64-A luminescence data.
