IT was pointed out by Porter1 that, for mercury and water,
the logarithm of the viscosity is a linear function of the logarithm of
the vapour pressure. I propose a modified relationship introducing the
critical pressure pc, namely where φ is the fluidity of
a liquid at the vapour pressure p, a and d are constants.
