The present analysis deals with the asymptotic behavior of the total
mean free path of electrons and positrons of above-threshold energies in
a shower produced by a primary cosmic-ray particle. An expression
derived for the asymptotic behavior of the fluctuations is shown to
correlate well with numerical calculations.
