Electric and magnetic field data from the multi-satellite THEMIS mission are used to investigate the flow of electromagnetic energy at low frequency in the near-Earth plasma sheet associated with substorm onsets. Particular attention is paid to the magnetic field-aligned Poynting flux near Pi2 frequencies observed at multiple satellite locations in the near-Earth plasma sheet.
