The Starfire Optical Range (SOR) division of the Air Force Research
Laboratory operates a 3.5m aperture telescope system near Albuquerque,
New Mexico. The SOR conducts advanced research into adaptive optics and
the imaging of space objects. September of 1997 saw the 'first light'
for a 941 actuator adaptive optics system for this 3.5m telescope.
