In-situ ionospheric modifications produced by powerful radio waves transmitted from the ground to a quiet F layer were measured. Spectra of the locally generated plasma waves in the ionosphere were obtained together with information on electron temperature, on suprathermal electrons, and on local electron density, as well as on the fluctuations of all these parameters along the rocket trajectory. The E and H fields of the heating wave, including the polarization of its magnetic field constituent, were determined.
