In 2003, ESA will send a Mars Lander Beagle 2 to search for life. There
are three sampling tools onboard: 1)Rock Corer - which is able to
retrieve powdered samples. 2) Scoop - which is able to retrieve soil
samples on the surface of Mars. 3) Mole - which is able to retrieve
subsurface soil samples.
