The objective of this proposal is radial-velocity followup of potential planetary companions discovered by photometric transits from our on-going XO survey of hundreds of thousands of stars with V< 12. Like the transiting hot Jupiters (THJs) reported to date, HD 209458b, TrES-1, HD 149026b, HD 189733b, XO-1b, TrES-2, HAT-P-1b, WASP- 1b, and WASP-2b, the new planets that we propose to discover will enable detailed characterization with existing telescopes such as Spitzer, Hubble, MOST, HET, Keck, Gemini, VLT, etc. In addition to the nominal THJs with periods from 1 to 4 days, we anticipate discovering THJs of characteristics substantially different than those reported so far, particularly with regard to the periods of the planets and the associated physical properties that depend on period.
