The formation of the solar wind's electric field inside the earth's magnetosphere is considered. Determinations are made of the magnetic field of a three-dimensional current system and of the effects associated with this field. Attention is then given to the problem of determining the currents and electric field set up by the MHD generator of the solar wind as a function of the flux parameters of the interplanetary plasma. The problem is solved in relation to a simplified model of the magnetosphere with homogeneous ionospheric conductivity for the southern direction of the interplanetary magnetic field. The convective motion taking shape in the magnetosphere is delineated.
