The behavior of critical points in the protonosphere in the presence of a transverse meridional plasma drift is analyzed. It is shown that plasma drift transforming a flux tube into a 'nozzle' with additional ejection or injection of plasma leads to the appearance of an additional critical point in the topside ionosphere, at which the velocity of H(+) ions exceeds the sound velocity at a plasma temperature of 2000-4000 K.
