Rocketborne measurements of E region irregularities in scale size 1 km down to 1 meter were carried out from Thumba (dip = 0) and from SHAR (Sriharikota, dip = 13 deg). It appears that the irregularities are generated due to two stream instability and cross field instability over Thumba. Over SHAR the irregularities are generated due to cross field instability and wind shear mechanism.
