The fine-mesh phototube is one type of photodetector which can be used under
a strong magnetic field. For an aerogel readout, the single-photon detection
efficiency should be close to 100\% in order to identify particle species. We
carried out a feasibility study of single-photon counting using fine-mesh
phototubes, and obtained a possible solution.
