Various techniques of low-energy X-ray measurements useful in the determination of electron temperatures are evaluated for application to the energetic (300 - 1000 eV) low-density (n about = 10 to the 14th power/cc) transient (t about = 100 nsec) plasma in the Triton electron beam-plasma interaction experiment. Diagnostic techniques considered include continuum measurements with broad-band beryllium-foil filters, narrow band-pass absorption-edge filters for X-ray energies below 1 keV and gold photoelectric detectors for energies below 400 eV.
