Some areas of the universe are experiencing violent events, the main product of which are gamma rays. One of the latest spacecraft, the Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO), will be deployed by a Shuttle in a 450 km altitude orbit to conduct observations on gamma rays. The GRO will be equipped with instruments that can convert gamma rays into visible light by interaction with crystals and liquids, and can record the scintillations by electronic sensors. Data will be collected in a period of two years and will aid in the study of galactic structure, dynamic balance between the binding forces of gravity, expanding forces of cosmic ray gas, kinetic motion of interstellar medium and galactic magnetic fields, and emission mechanism of known pulsars.
