A review and comparative analysis of published reports providing research data within Eurasia concerning the upper mantle geophysics shows the following: high upper mantle P-wave velocities, early relative teleseismic P-wave delays, low heat flow, absence of low-resistivity upper mantle layers, and regions of Eurasia. Opposite relative values of the parameters given above correspond to the active structural and volcanic regions, most notably the sea of Okholsk, sea of Japan, Kamchatka, Kuril Japan region, around lake Baykal, and along the southern to southwestern border of the U.S.S.R. Maps and brief discussions of the parameters mentioned, including a regional estimate of upper mantle q for p waves, are given.
