We have obtained far-field images using the Full Aperture Backscatter Station Imager (FABSI) at Nova. Images were taken of stimulated Brillouin backscatter (SBBS) and stimulated Raman backscatter (SRBS). The images were obtained by irradiating large pre heated toroidal hohlraums (filled with a one atmosphere mix of 80% CF4 and 20% C5H12) with a 2.5 kJ, 1 ns square, 351 nm probe beam. The hohlraums are designed to produce NIF-like target plasma conditions. A random phase plate was used to produce an approximately 300 μm diameter spot at best focus inside the target. The remaining 9 beams of Nova were used to heat the hohlraum prior to and during the probe beam. Images were obtained at different locations within the hohlraum during the early and late part of the probe beam in both SRBS and SBBS. Preliminary analysis of the images show time independent, nearly spatially uniform SRBS. The source of the SBBS appears to move from early to late times, and the images increase in size from early to late times. The SBBS images also show structure within the laser spot. We will present the data, and outline our current progress in interpreting the images.
