Dust measurements with a dust detector aboard Galileo spacecraft made during its seven-year long orbital tour in the jovian system have revealed several previously unknown faint dust complexes around Jupiter. The following dust populations have been identified: (i)~ethereal dust clouds enveloping the Galilean satellites; (ii)~a tenuous dust belt ringing the orbits of the Galilean moons and composed, in turn, of several populations with dissimilar properties; (iii)~an extremely tenuous dust halo on the outskirts of the jovian system where dozens of small irregular satellites orbit the planet. Here we outline sources, dynamical evolution, and sinks of dust, as well as the resulting spatial and size distributions of the dust material. Time variability of the dust populations caused by nonstationarity of the sources and the role of stochastic variations of the forces exerted on the dust motes are also discussed.
