We present multi-epoch observations of the southern IDV sources discovered in the ATCA IDV Survey. We investigate to what extent the variability properties of these sources are consistent with interstellar scintillation (ISS). Such interpretation of IDV is favoured by observations of the time delay in the variability pattern for one of the sources, PKS 0405-385. We discuss the properties of intraday variability in the polarized flux density. Finally the presence of the excessive brightness temperature in some of these sources, up to two orders higher than the Tb=1012 K limit is noted and discussed in terms of source evolution.
