Contributions to the external gravitational field of Saturn from the rings and from ring-induced tides in the planet are calculated. The radial density distribution in the rings is assumed to be that given by the simplest homogeneous-ring models as well as that based on data concerning the optical thickness of the rings. The gravitational moments of the rings and tidal corrections to the moments of Saturn up to 10th harmonic are computed for several ring models. The results show that the mass of the rings cannot be much greater than Struve's estimated upper limit of 0.000037 the mass of Saturn. The total gravitational field acting on a spacecraft in a flight between Saturn and the rings is estimated.
