"Explosive" solutions of the Smoluchowsky type kinetic equation are
considered in connection with the problem of the appearance of massive
galaxies and quasars in the merger model. An explanation of the "sudden"
disappearance of quasars at large redshifts is given. The neighbourhood
of the critical point in time is investigated.
