The VLT cryogenic high-resolution infrared echelle spectrograph CRIRES
offers high spatial, spectral and temporal resolution spectroscopy from
1 to 5 μm. Highlights from among the 29 pilot studies of the CRIRES
science verification (SV) runs are summarised.
