A claim by Magain et al.(Nature 2005, Vol 437, Sept 15) of a bright QSO without a massive host galaxy revived an old controversy about the possible existence of such objects in the Universe and initiated a vigorous debate whether this is possible. Most of the ongoing discussion focused on theoretical scenarios of how that could come about, or what it means for e.g. the gravitational wave background. We used ATCA to investigate the simpler hypothesis that this QSO is merely a dust-obscured starburst/AGN, with a clear line of sight to the AGN. We discovered luminous radio continuum emission consistent with star formation located on the QSO, and very wide CO J=1--0 line emission (DV_FWZI>500 km/sec). We propose a final set of ATCA CO J=1--0 observations to explore the full spatial and velocity distribution of the molecular gas fuelling what appears to be an extreme merger, and settle the issue of the H2 gas mass fraction residing in the QSO host galaxy.
