Several two-dimensional global numerical simulations have been performed in order to study the solar wind interaction with the Moon. The model is based on standard hybrid code and thus assumes kinetic PIC description for solar wind protons and fluid electrons. The ambient interplanetary magnetic field is perpendicular to the simulation plane. The results describe the formation of the wake structure behind the unmagnetized obstacle with plasma depleted cavity in the centre surrounded by low-frequency waves propagating away from the cavity. The properties and generating mechanism of these waves are discussed. We further focus on phenomena associated with the solar wind protons reflected on the lunar surface and study their dynamics and influence on the lunar plasma environment.
