Diurnal and seasonal variations of the geomagnetic field during periods with different polarities of interplanetary sectors are analyzed on the basis of data from high-latitude stations. It is shown that the geomagnetic effect of the IMF sectors in the polar cap is determined by the development of the polar electrojet as well as by variations of the auroral-electrojet closure currents.
