The behavior of dust under Martian atmospheric conditions is investigated. Emphasis is placed on the dust threshold and flux from a smooth surface as a function of surface polarity. It is found that threshold and flux of 1-2-micron dust do not conform to the same physics as that of 10-1000-micron particles. It is concluded that electrostatic forces play and important role in determining threshold and flux.
