A series of experiments on two-phase gas-liquid flow in a test section with an inner diameter of 10 mm at microgravity condition were performed aboard the MIR Space Station in August 1999 (Zhao et al., Int. J. Multiphase Flow, 2001, 28: 1156 -1168). In some experimental runs, the liquid flow rate increased slowly to reach its designed value, while the gas flow rate maintained its steady value throughout the runs. With the increasing of the ratio between the liquid and gas flow rates, annular, slug, and bubble flows were observed in turn. The transition phenomena between different flow patterns were reported in the present paper, focusing on the mechanisms of flow pattern transitions of two-phase flow at microgravity. The evolution of some statistical parameters such as the distributions of the sizes of gas bubbles along the test section was also analyzed in order to have some insights on the flow evolution.
