Molniya-2 satellite data on protons and alpha particles in the radiation belts are discussed. The spatial distribution of protons and alpha particles and their spectral characteristics agree well with a model of radial diffusion and loss due to ionization. In proton and alpha particle spectra, a maximum is observed in the inner zone (L less than 2), with the alpha particle maximum appearing at higher altitudes than the proton maximum. In near-equator regions of the inner zone, there exist intense fluxes of alpha particles with energies in the 17-60 MeV range.
