An experimental curve of room-temperature cut-off wavelength versus HgTe layer thickness for HgTe-CdTe superlattices is presented for the first time, along with an experimental equation relating the two. The equation is used to show that the variation in the cut-off wavelength for HgTe-CdTe superlattices is less than for HgCdTe alloy when the cut-off wavelength is greater than 2.0 microns.
