The matrix of 77135 would not be a liquid at less than 1280 C, 1 atm pressure. The petrography and lack of evidence of crystallization in the 1280-1150 C interval suggest that the matrix is either a devitrified, shock-melted and supercooled glass, or a devitrified, depressurised liquid whose liquidus temperature had been depressed by the presence of a small amount of water at pressures attainable in the upper part of the lunar crust. Devitrification fronts would have advanced faster than 1 mm per minute in 77135 glass at 1050 C under lunar surface conditions.
