The parameters of 30,000 selected extensive air showers for which both
the soft and rigid (thresholds of 0.6 and 5 GeV) components were
recorded, are investigated. The values obtained for the mean height of
production of shower muons with threshold energies of 0.6 and 5 GeV were
10 + or - 3 km and 12.7 + or - 1.8 km, respectively.
