We propose follow-up observations of the Large Magellanic Could (LMC) Cepheids in JHK_s-bands, using the CPAPIR instrument installed at the CTIO 1.5m telescope. Our main purpose is to obtain JHK_s-band photometric data in order to construct precision JHK_s light curves for our targeted Cepheids. This will enable the following critical studies: (1) to accurately construct JHK_s-bands period-luminosity (PL) & period-color (PC) relations, and test their linearity/non- linearity; (2) to construct multi-phase relations to compare with theoretical predictions and to constrain mass-luminosity relations obeyed by Cepheids; (3) to provide rich photometric data for future infrared surface brightness studies that can be used to obtain direct distances to these LMC Cepheids. These data, with well sampled light curves, are critical to fully quantify the effect of the linear vs. non- linear PL and PC relations and to minimize errors in future distance scale studies. We were awarded 7 (partial) nights for our observation in 2006B semester (N06b-286). However the data obtained from the 2006B semester is not sufficient to construct well sampled light curves. In order to make these data fully useful, we request an additional 20 nights in 2007B semester.
