The excitation states of N2(+) ions in collisions with molecular nitrogen have been studied. The optical excitation function and absolute excitation cross sections for a large number of first negative and Meinel bands were obtained for electron energies from the excitation threshold to 400 eV. Meinel band cross sections obtained in the present study were somewhat higher than those previously reported.
