In the tensor-scalar theory of gravity, we give a number of explicit solutions and examine analytically their asymptotic behavior. We consider homogeneous cosmologies with perfect fluid matter distribution satisfying the equation of state p = λρ where λ is a constant -1 <= λ <= 1. The convergence of our theory to general relativity is considered to be ``good'' if the scalar field φ = const. is an attractor of the equations of motion. When p = -ρ new varieties of inflation arise in which the scale factor a(t) ~ tα exp(K . tβ).
