The paper presents a theoretical study of the effect of ionization and recombination in the lower ionosphere on the evolution of plasma irregularities that are infinite in the Hall direction. It is shown that these processes lead to a decrease in the perturbation of the electric field and to a change in the location and structure of diffusion discontinuities. Attention is given to the motion characteristics of irregularities that are finite in the Hall direction.
