We are undertaking a study of the radio and optical properties of a complete sample of 25 lobe-dominated quasars from the revised 3CR survey. Preliminary results suggest a significant anti-correlation between the strength of the radio core and the width of the optical broad lines. An anti-correlation of this kind has been noted previously in representative samples containing core-dominated quasars, but this is the first evidence of such a relationship in a complete sample of lobe-dominated quasars, one that is especially well-suited to statistical tests of orientation-dependent properties. Our results are consistent with the emission of radio jets perpendicular to a rotating broad-line disk on the parsec scale.
