The rampart crater on Mars has several peculiar characteristics and thus is an interesting target in Mars researches. Multi-lobed morphology is one of such points. Some preliminary studies on the distribution pattern of the ejecta in rampart crater indicates that most volume exists in the inner lobe and the total of the ejecta material is significantly larger than the present cavity volume. This puzzling result is obtained by the photoclinometry applied on the Viking images and it critically depends on the validity of "homogeneous albedo" assumption. In the present poster we report detailed analysis on this volumetric budget of the rampart crater by using MOLA-MGS and Viking high resolution images. The target craters are carefully selected by the following criteria; 1) Fresh craters, having clear indication of double-lobed morphology. 2) The location within 30 deg. from the equator. 3) Smooth and flat background, which reduces error in the background subtraction. 4) MOLA tracks at central part of crater. Estimate of the volume has the following procedure;at first the background baseline is subtracted in MOLA profile. By assuming axisymmetric morphology( and modified by Viking Images if necessary),both cavity volume and ejecta volume are calculated. The ratio of the volume of ejecta to that of the cavity is 1.4 to 2.0 for craters having diameter larger than 21km,while that for crater having diameter of 15km is 0.8-1.2. The excess volume is evident for craters larger than approx. 20km. This discrepancy can be interpreted either by considering excess volume in the cavity such as ice, or by considering excess material was added to the ejecta.
