A recent paper [S. S. Bayin and M. Ozcan, Phys. Rev. D 49, 5313 (1994)] claimed to calculate the renormalized quantum stress-energy tensor inside a spherical conducting boundary in an arbitrary Einstein static universe. We point out that the Green function given by these authors is not symmetric and as a consequence the ``stress-energy tensor'' calculated is not conserved.
