Adaptive Optics: Telescopes, Earth Atmosphere: Turbulence

Scientific paper

In an adaptive optics system, the major error source is made up of the noise of the wavefront sensor, the uncompensated error induced by atmospheric turbulence and the fitting error of the deformable mirror. As for the infrared adaptive optics at the 2.16 m telescope of Beijing Astronomical Observatory, the closed-loop noise, the error caused by turbulence and the total error are analysed in terms of servo control loop.
