We request time to perform initial testing and photometric calibration of the Dark Energy Survey CCDs. Specifically, we plan to deploy a direct imaging CCD system to the CTIO/Yale/SMARTS 1m telescope. The detector will be identical to the CCDs that will eventually be used in the Dark Energy Camera. The goal will be to provide initial on-sky testing of the CCD system, which tests controller and CCD properties generally, and obtain early information on the photometric calibration of DES filters.
