Proton energy spectra are calculated on the basis of an analytical solution of the transport equation in interplanetary space with allowance for the statistical acceleration of particles. Good agreement is obtained between calculated spectra and proton spectra (E = 1.4-10 MeV) measured in recurrent increases at 1 AU. It is shown that the hypothesis of statistical acceleration in the interplanetary medium can explain cases of a negative gradient of intensity at 1 AU.
