The escape conditions of albedo electrons from the upper layers of the atmosphere in the geomagnetic field are investigated. This makes it possible to: (1) determine the heights of formation of albedo particle fluxes which are observed beyond the atmosphere; (2) clarify the mechanism for the formation of albedo electrons; (3) determine the electron spectrum at the boundary of the atmosphere; and (4) correctly correlate fluxes of albedo electrons observed in the stratosphere and at flight altitudes of low-orbiting satellites. Calculations show that albedo electrons with energies above 100 MeV and with large initial pitch-angles experience considerable energy losses when escaping from the atmosphere in the equatorial region from heights below 40 km.
