Experimental data are presented on the absorption of hadron cascades in a lead absorber, which were obtained at the Tien-Shan ionization calorimeter over the period 1972-1981. The ionization absorption of hadron cascades observed in the EAS cores is slower than that in cascades induced by single hadrons. This effect is thought to be related to ionization absorption from low-energy hadrons.
