Small scale flares occurring outside active regions over the network junctions seem to pervade the quiet solar corona and contribute an important part to its energy balance. In this analysis we estimate the rate of energy release in network flares oberved in X-rays by the Yohkoh Soft X-ray Telescope taking into account both radiative and conductive losses of the emitting plasma. Comparison of the calculated heating rates with observed emission measures suggests existence of the simple scaling law, which describes flaring events from the solar network flares to very strong stellar flares.
