Several types of chorus are described which differ in terms of energetic and dynamic characteristics. VLF data are used to investigate certain parameters of the magnetospheric plasma and electron fluxes responsible for the generation of chorus emission. The use of chorus energy data for the diagnostics of the angle and energy characteristics of electron precipitating into the magnetosphere during substorms is considered.
