High resolution IUE observations were analyzed to derive element depletions in low velocity interstellar gas toward several stars in the same region of sky. The results were combined with previous observations to determine how the level of depletion of a given element depends on present densities in the interstellar medium. The density dependence of depletions is found to vary from element to element; this variation is discussed in light of depletion models. Results indicate that sputtering of grains in interstellar shocks is important in determining element depletions.
