Accurate locations, shapes, and photometry of streamers during a solar eclipse are obtained by combining photometric measurements of the inner and outer corona with K-coronameter observations and morphological pictures of the streamers obtained by a gradient compensation technique. The electron density distribution in four streamers situated near the limb plane is calculated by an approach proposed by Van de Hulst (1950). Local increases in electron density at the neck of helmet-shaped streamers with an almost local zero gradient are discussed.
