Electron precipitation bands are localized enhancement of precipitating electrons over 1/3-L observed by low altitude spacecraft, typically in the range from 5-7. Using observations from OV3-3, SAMPEX, POES, and FAST, we examine the possibility that some bands are caused by electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves. We also include a quasilinear diffusion analysis of the resonant interaction between electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves and electrons with energy ranging from a few tens of keV to several MeV.
