Electronic Excitation And Ionization Of Molecules, Intermediate Molecular States

Scientific paper

Absolute cross sections for electron impact single ionization (SI), and for various fragments production, including contributions from dissociative excitation (DE) and dissociative ionization (DI), of CO+, N2+, O2+ and C2H2+ are measured for electron energies from corresponding thresholds to 2,5 keV. The animated crossed beams experiment is used. The analysis of product velocity distribution method, developed in our laboratory, has been applied in order to (i) separate contributions from different reaction channels leading to the same fragments production, (ii) make correction of measured cross sections for the incomplete transmission factor of the dissociation fragments and (iii) determine the kinetic energy release distribution (KERD) of fragment ions. Threshold energies for corresponding processes are determined as well. Results are compared with experimental and theoretical data available in the literature.
